SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield City Council agreed to maintain water gauges along waterways in Greene County.
“The US Geological Survey operates over 11,000 stream gauges nationwide, including 229 in Missouri,” said Chris Dunnaway with the city of Springfield, on August 25 at the city council meeting.
The city entered into a Joint Funding Agreement with the United States Department of the Interior in the amount of $71,350 for the purpose of operating and maintaining six stream gauges. According to the ordinance, the agreement is from October 1 to September 30 of 2026.
“The city of Springfield has partnered with the US Geological Survey, Missouri Department of Transportation, and Watershed Community of the Ozarks to help fund several of these local gauges since 1998,” said Dunnaway
