CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Mo. — A Clever woman was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 9, in connection with a 1992 cold case in Iowa involving the death of a newborn baby.

Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole said his office first assisted Johnson County, Iowa investigators in 2022 after they reopened the case of “Baby John Doe.” The infant’s body was found Dec. 21, 1992, at an Iowa City landfill.

“It’s approximately three years ago. We get into contact from the law enforcement agency in Iowa requesting our assistance in a homicide investigation that they were working on,” Cole said. “We assisted them in writing and executing the search warrant here in Christian County about three years ago.
