BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Luigi Mangione, the man accused of shooting and killing a CEO in New York, may be returning to Pennsylvania, according to new court documents.
Court documents filed on Sept. 8 state that the United States Marshal's Service is being asked to release Mangione into the custody of the Blair County Sheriff's Department or other local law enforcement so that he may appear in person for his Altoona pre-trial motion. Currently, that date is set for Nov. 7 at 1:30 p.m. in a courtroom in the Blair County Courthouse.
The documents note that Mangione would be returned to the U.S. Marshal's upon the conclusion of his appearance. If the U.S. Marshall's Office refuses to release Mangione, the defense will have 14 days to file a record of objection.
