DermaRite Industries has expanded a voluntary hand soap recall to also include several deodorant, shampoo and hand sanitizer products, the Food and Drug Administration has announced.
The company initiated the recall in July due to products being contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex, a bacteria which can cause infection. The recall has been expanded due to an “abundance of caution.”
Burkholderia cepacia complex may result in serious and life-threatening infections if the products are used by immunosuppressed individuals, according to the FDA.
The affected products have been distributed across the United States and Puerto Rico.
