BOSTON (WWLP) - Tuesday brought the first-ever Sustainability Day at the State House, bringing climate change back into focus for lawmakers.
This planet-palooza, organized by South Hadley native Bella Yee, drew 30 tables and 40 table attendants to the Great Hall, showcasing initiatives spanning from compost pick-up services, to chemical-free soap to climate-neutral home improvements.
The state's first-ever climate chief spoke at the event, saying the time for action is now.
"We don't really get anything done unless we have healthy ecosystems and a stable climate. And we've lost our stable climate," said Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer.
