BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — In the wake of the seemingly random horrific stabbing that killed a Ukrainian refugee on a Charlotte light rail train last month, the Butts County sheriff is now urging all residents to legally carry a firearm.

Sheriff Gary Long wrote a lengthy post on social media in response to surveillance video being released of the deadly stabbing, in which investigators say that 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was riding the Blue Line CAT train when 34-year-old Decarlos Brown, who didn't know her, stabbed her in the throat three times with a pocket knife before walking away with blood dripping from his knife.

He is now facing first-degree murder charges on a state level and on Tuesday, was federally charged with one count of committing an act causing death on a mass transpor
