Syracuse, N.Y. — A group of masked people in dark clothing stole men’s merchandise from Macy’s at Destiny USA on Tuesday and fled from police in two stolen cars, troopers said.

The theft happened around 11 a.m., according to Syracuse police. Officers initially pursued two cars leaving the mall but stopped the chase.

A short time later, State Police spotted one of the cars and chased it east on the state Thruway (I-90) where it crashed in the city of Oneida, said Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a state police spokesperson.

The driver, who was alone in the car, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into custody, she said.
