The boss of one of the world's top car companies has confirmed it will no longer aim to switch to an electric-only vehicle lineup in Europe by 2030.
Speaking at the Munich motor show this week, Jean-Philippe Imparato, COO of Stellantis – the parent company of 14 brands, including Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Peugeot – says a plan to have a fully electric model range by the end of the decade has been scrapped, per a report from Reuters .
In 2022, under previous CEO Carlos Tavares, the car giant put forward a strategic target which would have seen petrol and diesel engines scrapped across its European portfolio by 2030 – while also aiming for 50 per cent of sales in North America to be made up of electric vehicles (EVs).
However, Stellantis isn't the first carmaker to change tack.
