BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - In just seven years, Cam Teague has gone from an amateur fighter to a pro.
“I was like 19, looking for a hobby,” Teague said. “I just walked into an MMA gym, and they beat me up. I kept coming back, and eventually, I started beating other people up.”
Now, he gets a shot at the biggest stage in mixed martial arts: the UFC.
Although a Mobile native, he built his fighting career in Mississippi, becoming the number one fighter in the state.
“The Biloxi area, I like to say, is where I learned how to fight. I had my toughest fights over in Biloxi in front of the crowds. People along the Coast support me, and I feel like I get more love over in Mississippi than I do in Mobile when I fight,” Teague says.
This time, he’s headed to Las Vegas for Dana White’s Contender
