KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City woman is suing the nursing home she claims is responsible for her mother's death.

In September 2022, Alice Mason died after getting sepsis from a wound that went untreated while she was a resident of the nursing home Redwood of Kansas City South, now called Rehab of Kansas City South.

Mason's daughter is suing the nursing home, claiming neglect led to her mother's death.

The lawsuit claims Mason developed an avoidable skin condition that got infected, turned into sepsis, leading to her death in September 2022.

On July 18, 2022, the lawsuit says Mason was evaluated, and it was discovered that she had developed a wound on her coccyx. The wound was noted in a weekly report on July 27, 2022.
