FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Friday marks 100 years of Smith Field.

To celebrate, the Fort Wayne Allen County Airport Authority is hosting a free, family-friendly event. It’s open to the public and will include live music, $10 tethered hot air balloon rides, and $50 helicopter rides.

“We’re excited to open Smith Field Airport to the community that has supported a century of flight in Fort Wayne. This free, family-friendly celebration is our way of saying thank you,” said Executive Director of Airports Scott Hinderman. “We are honoring our history, inspiring the next generation of aviators, and sharing the Hoosier Hospitality that makes our airports special.”
