MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -The city of Madison hopes to build 15,000 new homes by 2030 .
Madison’s mayor presented three proposals on what the city wants to accomplish throughout the fall.
“There isn’t one piece of legislation that is going to solve all of Madison’s housing problems,” Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said.
She outlined ways to improve zoning in order to create more affordable housing. Rhodes-Conway talked about updating height requirements for upper stories of large homes during a press conference on Tuesday.
“This change that we are making preserves requirements to stack down the building to its context, but it adjusts the requirement to stack down the rest of the building, so it matches the maximum height allowed in the adjacent residential districts,” Rhodes-Conway explained.
