The 49ers wasted no time in their search for a new kicker.
San Francisco, after waiving struggling kicker Jake Moody on Tuesday, brought in veteran Eddy Piñeiro for a workout and will sign him to a contract, a source confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco after NFL Media's Ian Rapoport first reported the news.
Piñeiro began his NFL career with the Chicago Bears in 2019, and since then, has kicked for the New York Jets (2021) and Carolina Panthers (2022-2024). In 70 career games, the 29-year-old has made 111 of 126 field-goal attempts (88.1 percent) and 116 of 126 extra-point attempts (92.1 percent).
He now is San Francisco's new kicker.
