SPRINGFIELD TWP. — For the eighth straight time since 2021, a game between Philadelphia Catholic League rivals La Salle and Roman Catholic was decided by one goal or fewer. For the seventh time during that stretch, La Salle came away with the win.

The Explorers defeated the Cahillites, 1-0 in overtime, Tuesday afternoon at La Salle College High School’s Bartley Field.

“They understand how to play us really well,” La Salle coach Tom McCaffrey said of Roman. “I think we also do a good job defensively against them. Our styles make it so that we match up for those situations to be that way. Also, it comes down to the players.
