MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Whether it's cattle or crops, Alabama's farmers keep food on our tables. But, challenges are threatening growers across the state.

"We've been at it about three weeks, and we're probably about another two weeks and we'll be done," said Shep Morris, Macon County farmer.

With over 4,000 acres total, Morris is harvesting corn. That's one of three crops he produces throughout the year, including cotton and sesame.

"The yields look like they're gonna be good. You know, our problem is the pricing," said Morris.

Morris explained farmers are weathering the storm of low commodity pricing, and high input costs. That means farmers are making less than what it costs to produce their products.
