NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The cool autumn temperatures are making an early appearance across New York, with some leaves already showing signs of changing colors.

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, leaves are expected to start changing into their fall colors as early as mid-September.

For those planning viewing trips, peak fall foliage is expected to hit during the second and third week of October.

Once the leaves are at their peak color, their vibrancy will only last for 7 to 10 days, the Farmer’s Almanac says.

While there are a plethora of popular destinations for leaf peepers, the Farmer's Almanac has specifically named one New York state park as one of the top places for peak foliage in the Northeast.
