MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Gunfire erupted at a McDonald's in Hickory Hill on Sunday afternoon, injuring a 17-year-old boy, police said.
Memphis Police (MPD) said officers were called just after 3 p.m. to a shooting at the fast food restaurant on Winchester Road between Ridgeway and Hickory Hill roads.
Police said investigators spoke to a man who said he was with the 17-year-old when a car pulled and someone from inside told them "get y'all (expletive) back to work." That was when the man told the occupants to "shut the (expletive) up," MPD said.
The car then left the McDonald's, police said.
Someone from that car then fired shots at the man and the 17-year-old from a nearby intersection, striking the teen, police said. MPD said the boy's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
