FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — A toddler kidnapped at knifepoint on Sunday in Los Angeles County was found the same day in Northern Arizona, and law enforcement was able to identify the suspect’s car and rescue the child, thanks to special license plate readers.

It was a Sunday morning shopping trip that turned into a nightmare for a Los Angeles-area mother. According to the California Highway Patrol, one-year-old Enzo Antonescu was kidnapped while his mother was held at knifepoint at Target. The suspect was the baby’s father, Dragan Antonesco, and his parents.

An Amber Alert was put out that afternoon in the area. However, it wasn’t until the accused kidnappers crossed state lines into Arizona that a Flock Safety license plate recognition camera spotted them.
