SEATTLE — Early in the 1980s, the Seahawks started building its defensive cornerstones with a couple of future Ring of Honor members.

The 1980 NFL Draft brought Texas A&M's Jacob Green to the Pacific Northwest, and in '81, future Hall of Famer Kenny Easley was chosen with the fourth overall pick.

However, consistency was a struggle for the Seahawks, and inaugural head coach Jack Patera was fired during the 1982 strike season.

"I really enjoyed myself, and I'm sorry we didn't win more," Patera told KING 5 in a 2016 interview.

It all changed in 1983 with the hiring of Chuck Knox.
