A $20 million lawsuit filed this week escalated the legal brawl between the developer of Portland’s Ritz-Carlton and his former right-hand man.

Barclay Grayson, an ex-senior vice president at real estate firm BPM Real Estate Group, sued his employer in May to enforce an alleged sale agreement that would allow him to buy a penthouse in the Ritz-Carlton tower, as The Oregonian/OregonLive first reported. BPM’s chief executive, Walter Bowen, and his companies shot back with their own civil suit in August , accusing Grayson of financial elder abuse in his business interactions with Bowen.
