The University of Alaska Fairbanks men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their season on Saturday at Kincaid Park, where fellow in-state rivals, the University of Alaska Anchorage, made ample use of the home course to secure wins in both meets.
The Nanooks’ depth came from a mix of youth and experience. Freshman Dexter Delaney delivered a promising debut, running 23 minutes, 45 seconds over the eight-kilometer course to place third overall.
Freshman Ian Baker (10th, 24:57) and classmate Nicholas Iverson (11th, 24:58) finished side by side, showing poise in their first collegiate outing.
