The workers overwhelmingly rejected a tentative deal
Air Canada’s flight attendants are being backed by thousands of online supporters after workers overwhelmingly rejected a tentative deal on a new contract.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees revealed Saturday that their 10,517 members voted 99.1% against the proposed contract that would see increased wages and pay for working when aircraft are on the ground.
The tentative agreement included a salary increase of 12% this year for most junior flight attendants and an 8% boost for more senior staff, while the following years adds smaller raises.
More than 50,000 people across Canada have signed three separate petitions at Change.org voicing their support for better wages for flight attendants.
