ALBERT LEA, Minn.-The Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) announced on Tuesday, Sept. 9, that several clinics are being consolidated and some medical procedures will no longer be available in Albert Lea.

MCHS says as part of that change it will transition the elective procedures for ophthalmology, orthopedics/podiatry, endoscopy and gynecology from Albert Lea to Austin and Waseca.

Past and present members of the Albert Lea Healthcare Coalition which began advocating for local healthcare back when Mayo first began pulling services from the campus in 2017 were disappointed by the news.
