LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Even though National Diaper Need Awareness Week starts Sept. 15, Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird announced the city would also commemorate that occasion during a volunteer diaper wrap event at the Center for People in Lincoln on Tuesday.

According to the National Diaper Bank Network, one in two U.S. families with young kids struggles to afford diapers.

In Nebraska, The Nebraska Diaper Bank is helping provide diapers to those families.

And in an update to a story 10/11 News shared in July, the Diaper Bank said because of Lincoln’s generosity in donating diapers, they’ve had to come pick them up multiple times a month.
