A brazen smash-and-grab jewelry store heist in San Jose has sparked fear among other business owners throughout the Bay Area.
The robbery happened Friday afternoon at Kim Hung Jewelry. Surveillance video captured a car slam into the business and more than 15 people rush the store. Once inside, the thieves smashed glass cases and snatched jewelry. One person pushed the 88-year-old store owner to the ground. The owner cut his feet on broken glass and suffered a stroke, his family said. Following a hospital stay, he now is bedridden at home.
His family said he is traumatized. After four decades in the jewelry business, the future of his store is uncertain.
On Tuesday evening, concerned business owners plan to sit down with San Jose's police chief and mayor to talk about what can be done
