A snowboarder who fell while descending the Skyscraper Glacier west of Eldora was taken to the hospital Monday after an hours-long rescue mission, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office release.
Around 2:25 pm., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report that a 27-year-old man had sustained serious injuries when he slid about 100 feet down the snowfield and into a crevasse.
Rocky Mountain Rescue Group volunteers were airlifted to a mountain ridge above the snowfield and then traversed a 300-foot path of glacial snow to reach the man. At around 5:45 p.m., these rescuers secured the patient and treated his injuries. Additional rescuers traveled to the area by ATV and on foot from Rollins Pass.
