After more than three decades as a staple at the Santa Maria Town Center mall, Sportscard Fantasy's is closing its doors on Oct. 31.
Known for its vast collection of sports cards, jerseys, and memorabilia, the popular shop is closing as its owners prepare to retire.
Curt Miller, who opened the store on Jan.17, 1994, the day of the Northridge earthquake, reflected on the store’s long history and the changing industry.
“I was always originally just a little sports card shop and I’ve been doing mail order since back in the 70s. I had quite an inventory of cards so I decided to venture out on my own,” Miller said.
