RYEGATE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - A woman is dead after her electric bike was hit by a truck while she was crossing the highway, say Vermont State Police.
The collision reportedly happened around 1:07 p.m. on Tuesday. First responders quickly took Kathryn Mabey, 64, of Newbury, to the nearby Cottage Hospital in Woodbury, N.H., but she was unfortunately pronounced dead.
According to authorities, Mabey was traveling east on the Scott Highway - U.S. Route 302 in South Ryegate and tried to cross from the shoulder to a parking lot on the opposite side of the road. A truck driver from North Carolina was traveling east at the same time, and tried to avoid a collision but was unable to, say police. That driver was not reported injured in the crash.
