FENTRESS COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Fentress County Sheriff’s Office said dozens of horses and two ponies were taken from a property on Tuesday.
According to the sheriff’s office, officers, along with agents from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, went to a property in the 3300 block of Leatherwood Ford Road after receiving a tip about horses suffering from severe malnutrition and poor living conditions.
At the property, investigators found 25 horses and two ponies in “various stages of poor health.”
With help from Horse Haven of Tennessee and Volunteer Equine Advocates, FCSO said all animals were safely seized and transported to receive the rehabilitation and veterinary care they need.
“We are committed to protecting not only the people of Fentress County but also the animals
