ATLANTA — The former director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who was fired amidst a clash with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. over vaccine policy will now testify before a Senate committee next week.
CNN reported that the Senate's health committee announced Tuesday that they will hear Dr. Susan Monarez as she addresses her firing publicly for the first time. Monarez will testify before Congress along with former senior CDC official Debra Houry, who resigned in protest following Monarez's firing by President Trump.
The news comes a few weeks after HHS shared on social media that CDC Director Susan Monarez was no longer with the public health agency, adding that Kennedy had "full confidence" in the team at the CDC that would continue to do meaningful work.
