HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont visited the Connecticut Emergency Operations Center Tuesday to discuss emergency preparedness and view a demonstration of software used to simulate fires.
The Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security held its annual Governor's Emergency Planning and Preparedness Initiative Tuesday, during which Gov. Lamont and the department reviewed emergency preparedness plans and simulated a fire caused by drought.
September is National Preparedness Month, and the department is recommending Connecticut residents put together an emergency plan as well as an emergency kit. A personal preparedness guide in multiple languages can be found on the state's website.
