MITCHELL, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A big development for South Dakota agriculture on Wednesday, as a ribbon-cutting and open house for the new High Plains Processing plant was held in Mitchell.
The $500 million facility will be able to process 35 million bushels of soybeans every year and will create 85 full-time jobs.
“We are talking about enhancing our number one industry, which is agriculture. The millions and millions of bushels of soybeans that they are converting to oil and meal and adding value to it,” said Governor Larry Rhoden.
The plant was backed by the South Dakota Soybean Processors as well as project partners and investors.
