Cañon City police seized more than 900 grams of illegal drugs believed to be worth around $17,000 after conducting a traffic stop Thursday, the department announced.
While assisting parole officers from the Colorado Department of Corrections with the traffic stop, police spotted narcotics in plain view within the vehicle, according to a news release from the Cañon City Police Department. Two individuals inside the car are facing felony-level charges.
Officers discovered 814.787 grams of meth, 95.091 grams of fentanyl (about 800 pills) and 12.772 grams of a liquid mixture of the two substances. A handgun and a "large amount" of money found in plastic baggies were also recovered.
Vanessa Budd, 38, and George Bumgarner, 40, were arrested and taken to the Fremont County jail.
