ROCK ISLAND, Illinois (KWQC) - A case with Rock Island ties will go before the Illinois Supreme Court on Wednesday, September 10.

Breaking down the case:

The case stems from 2022 which ended with Courtney Vesey facing two charges of aggravated battery to Rock Island Police Officers. It started as a custody call when Vesey’s ex-wife says she got concerning messages from Vesey, leading her to call police. The appeal says Vesey was supposed to have his daughter that day, but officers say their conversations with Vesey lead them to give his back to his wife that night.

Court documents show Vesey started to get agitated with officers and tried to walk back towards his daughter. Documents say Sgt. Kristopher Kuhlman put his arm out toward Vesey but didn’t touch him. The documents go on to say
