Senator Patty Murray has released a new statement regarding the waste treatment plant at Hanford.

According to the holistic agreement, the hot commissioning of the direct-feed low activity waste facility must be completed by October 15. Murray stated that the site is prepared to finish hot commissioning ahead of schedule and can begin turning waste into glass by the target date.

Murray also mentioned that she spoke with Department of Energy Secretary Chris Wright. She said Wright admitted that the Trump administration is actively stalling progress at the plant.

"It's an astonishingly senseless and destructive move and a threat to the entire nuclear cleanup mission at Hanford," Murray stated.
