MILTON, Wash. – A 40-foot piece of steel from the World Trade Center stands as a prominent 9/11 memorial in Milton Community Park. The cities of Fife, Milton and Edgewood collaborated to secure this significant piece of history in 2015.
Volunteers and city officials dedicated four years to raise the necessary funds and construct the memorial, which was dedicated in 2020. Our partners at King Five spoke with key figures about the importance of this memorial on the day of its dedication.
Jack Chandler, a volunteer who spearheaded the memorial, shared his thoughts on the achievement.
"We actually have been able to accomplish something that no other city has been able to do with a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. That's just large. And it means that the community now will be able
