Douglas McLarty has been elected unopposed as president of the Shire of Murray for a two-year term.

Mr McLarty was first elected to the council in October 2017 and has been shire president since March 2025 after the departure of former president David Bolt, who was elected to State Parliament earlier this year as the member for Murray-Wellington.

An election will be held on Saturday, October 18, to fill four councillor vacancies for four-year terms and one vacancy for two years.

Three current Shire of Murray councillors have nominated to re-enrol in their position.
