SPARTANBURG, S.C. —

The city of Spartanburg is set to soft-launch one of the first micro-transit programs in the state, which officials describe as a blend of public transit and rideshare apps.

The service, called SpartaGo, will have a soft launch on Sept. 16, followed by a full launch on Sept. 23, according to Assistant City Manager Kevin Limehouse. Latest Forecast

"It's an on-demand service that takes you from point A to point B," Limehouse said. "Instead of a fixed route, traditional transit service, which is a bus route from here to here, and you only have a little bit of wiggle room, this gets you from where you are to where you want to go directly."
