OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Main Street America, an organization that helps communities, toured the heart of Ottumwa.

Program Officer Joi Cuartero Austin spoke with some business owners to give feedback to downtown areas.

“The main things that I have noticed is that you all have really wonderful partnerships and a lot of great community groups that come together to work on not just what’s going on downtown but really for your full community,” said Austin.

Executive Director Kris Patrick said it takes work to move Ottumwa forward.

“So really to move the downtown forward it takes the whole community and it takes us working in partnership and really listening to the people that are in the community and what they need as far as business and services and good places to live.”
