SUMTER, S.C. — One person is dead after a car accident just outside the city of Sumter.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol the accident happened around lunchtime on Beulah Cuttino Road near the intersection with Tindal Road about six miles outside the city.

A 2003 GMC Yukon was traveling north on Beulah Cuttino Road when it went off the road to the right, came back onto the road and overturned, it then went off the road to the right and struck a ditch.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sumter County coroner has not yet released the name of the victim.
