WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A controversial rezoning request in Middleton Township has been withdrawn, ending weeks of debate over whether farmland near the new Meta data center should be opened to industrial development.
On Tuesday night, township trustees voted unanimously to accept withdrawal requests from two property owners covering about 112 acres along Devils Hole Road. The land had been under consideration for a zoning change from agricultural to light industrial.
Residents who opposed the proposal applauded the withdrawal.
“None of us are going to give up, but we’re all going to sleep good tonight,” said Sandy Weaver, who lives near the land.
