MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A Memphis city councilman wants to put a halt to the new Regional One facility until a meeting between the county mayor, hospital, business leaders, and local philanthropies is held.
Councilman Jeff Warren says he's been calling for a meeting for months, before the county spends nearly two billion dollars to build the new hospital.
Warren believes there could be better options that would cost taxpayers less money.
The resolution was scheduled for a vote at the full council meeting on Tuesday night, but it was delayed for two weeks.
"If there was a way to get the functions that we want to get Regional One to improve without spending that money and talking about it and looking at alternatives might be. Seems to be reasonable," said Councilman Jeff Warren.
