Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been punished by the NFL for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during Philadelphia’s 24-20 win over Dallas in Week 1. But it won’t sideline him for any additional games.

The NFL announced on Tuesday that Carter had been suspended one game — which was served by him being disqualified before he played a snap — and fined $57,222, in addition to the lost game check. Carter will not appeal.

Carter’s actions got him ejected before the first play of Thursday night’s game. Afterward, he publicly apologized and promised not to do it again.

But showing remorse didn’t get Carter out of trouble.
