Federal Grand Jury Charges Leaders of Separatist Group with Funding and Directing Violence from the United States

A federal grand jury has indicted two naturalized U.S. citizens, Benedict Nwana Kuah and Pascal Kikishy Wongbi, on charges of organizing and financing kidnappings, bombings, and killings in their native country, the Republic of Cameroon.

The two men, ages 51 and 52, are accused of using their positions in the United States to direct a separatist group, the Ambazonia Defense Forces (ADF).

According to the indictment, Kuah and Wongbi held senior leadership roles within the ADF’s “War Council,” with Kuah serving as Chairman and Wongbi as the Head of Defense. The ADF is described as an armed group that seeks to create a new country called “Ambazonia” in the Northwest and Southwe
