OMAHA, Neb. —
A UNMC professor is urging all Nebraskans to get the COVID-19 vaccine. But he admits there are a lot of questions about how accessible it will be this fall.
In August, the Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine for adults 65 and older, or younger people with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Mark Rupp with UNMC said that leaves out pregnant women and very young children.
"Pediatric societies are suggesting kids who are certainly less than two years of age should get vaccinated because we want their first exposure to COVID-19 to be the vaccine rather than the virus. People do a lot better with that vaccine challenge rather than the virus challenge," Rupp said.
