PITTSBURGH —
Residents evacuated from the Jefferson Apartment complex in Squirrel Hill Tuesday are forced to part ways with their home and everything inside.
“Unfortunately, due to the damage of the two main fire buildings we are not going to allow anyone inside the structure at this time, nor do I believe that they will be in the structure at any point in time,” said Battalion Chief John Gardell with Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire. Advertisement
That decision came Tuesday evening after fire officials and building inspectors determined the structure will require “immediate demolition.”
Gardell said the owner of the building was given 48 hours to tear it down.
