Gilroy’s Dustin Wolf, the Calgary Flames’ star rookie goalie, signed a seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension on Tuesday.

Wolf finished second in Calder Trophy voting last season as NHL rookie of the year, one spot ahead of San Jose’s Macklin Celebrini and one spot behind winner Lane Hutson of Montreal.

Wolf had a 29-16-8 record with a .910 save percentage and a 2.64 goals-against average.

The 24-year-old finished 11th in wins and save percentage among NHL goalies in his rookie season, backstopping Calgary to the brink of a playoff berth.

“I’ve been underrated my whole career; a large majority of it due to how tall I stand,” said the 6-foot tall Wolf. “And I think that’s a blessing in disguise, because then you can just go about your business.”
