State Sen. Elder Vogel Jr., R-47th, joined lawmakers and state officials this week to raise awareness of hunger in Pennsylvania, where more than 1 million residents, including 400,000 children, face food insecurity.
Vogel, who co-chairs the Legislative Hunger Caucus with Rep. Emily Kinkead, D-20th, authored a resolution designating September 2025 as Hunger Action Month. He was joined by Sen. Judy Schwank, D-11th, minority chair of the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, who stressed the need for bipartisan solutions.
Officials from the Department of Agriculture and Department of Human Services, along with food bank leaders, detailed programs to improve access to fresh food across the commonwealth.
