AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- A local artist made the side of Billie's Diner in Airway Heights come alive with color while also celebrating the area's rich aviation history.
Artist Missy Kupka recently finished a mural on the side of Billie's Diner. The mural features planes, natural flyers like butterflies and geometric shapes to tie everything together.
“I wanted to incorporate not just the aviation from the Air Force Base in our area, but also the natural flyers,” Missy explained. “There's a section with some military planes and a Huey helicopter. In the foreground, there are natural flyers, like butterflies, bees, and different pollinators.”
The mural is part of the city of Airway Heights' downtown revitalization plan, which calls for public art that fits the theme of Crossroads and Cult
