An elderly man has been released on bail after he was charged with allegedly touching several schoolgirls aged under 10 through a primary school fence in Sydney’s inner west this month.

The 86-year-old was arrested at the intersection of Bridge Road and Ross Street in Forest Lodge, the location of Forest Lodge Public School, at 2pm on Tuesday.

Police allege the man first spoke to children through the fence of a Forest Lodge primary school on Wednesday last week, with students reporting to teachers that the conversation “unsettled” them.
